St. raphael's
Board Expression of Interest

Do you have the necessary skills and experience to be a Director?

Over the coming years, several vacancies will arise on the Board of Directors of St Raphael’s Garda Credit Union as existing Board members reach the regulatory term limit of 12 years. To manage this transitionary period, the Board of Directors has been working on a succession plan to ensure that continuity and stability is maintained. As part of this succession plan, the Nominations Committee of the Board is accepting expressions of interest from suitably qualified, eligible members who wish to be considered as a candidate to be put forward for election to the Board of Directors in the future.

Those interested should be aware that it is an unpaid voluntary role with a significant time commitment involved. A minimum of 8 regular board meetings are held per year. Interested candidates must have the time necessary to attend all regular Board meetings, review Board papers in advance and participate in at least one Board sub-Committee. It is a very important and fulfilling role and without volunteer Directors and Board Oversight Committee Members, credit unions simply could not exist.

As a regulated financial services provider, all Directors are subject to the Central Bank of Ireland’s Fitness & Probity Regime, full details of which can be found at the following link:

Central Bank of Ireland’s Fitness & Probity Regime.

All members who have expressed an interest in becoming a Director must be able to demonstrate that they can meet these requirements.

Specifically, the Board of Directors is interested in hearing from those that have experience, skills and/or qualifications in any of the following areas:

  • Strategic Planning
  • Governance
  • Operations of a Regulated Financial Services Entity
  • Finance, Accounting & Audit
  • Risk Management
  • Compliance including Anti Money Laundering requirements
  • Project Management
  • IT including Cyber Security
  • The Credit Union Sector
  • Investment Management
  • HR / Performance Management

As well as the necessary skills, experience and qualifications, the Nominations Committee must also consider eligibility, independence, diversity and inclusivity in the selection of suitable candidates.
