It is with deep regret that we advise you of Dermot Hobbs passing on January 3rd last. Many of you will know Dermot from his many years of involvement with St Raphael’s Garda Credit Union.
He first joined the Board in 1988 as a member of the Supervisory Committee and spent the following 19 years as a voluntary Director on the Board from 1989 to 2008. During that time, Dermot held the principal post of Chairman, a record number of seven times.
He also held the post of Vice Chairman and Secretary. Following his retirement from An Garda Síochána, he stepped down from the Board and joined the staff of St Raphael’s between 2009 and 2014. He was a larger than life figure, who made a substantial contribution to the credit union over many years and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
Our sincere sympathies to his wife Sandra, and daughters, Aoife and Niamh, their partners, his grandchildren and the wide circle of family and friends that Dermot had. Our deepest sympathies also to his niece and our staff member, Lavinia Proudfoot.
ÁR dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.
